Every week for that one hour, you can turn into a story creator.
You can spin magic in your tales, build castles in your stories and decide whether your hero should fly on a carpet or a space jet!
So come see what we did for that one bewitching hour in The Story Creators every week.
In class we did –
Boxing gloves – they loved it
Each one brings their favorite book to class and we read it together with each child doing the part of a character each thereby learning about character, dialogue
Discussions on dialogue, character by screening well known story based films
Lots of writing
A very enthu class indeed!
Talking about their favorite characters!
The story locket
The Imagination Lab held at India Habitat Center was a huge hit with the children. The kids readily participated in all the writing activities from the Photo Lab to the Story Locket , to Let’s talk dialogue and the hugely popular Fantasy Lab where they were asked to create their own Superhero, Super Realm and Super Villain. Students actively participated in the Story Locket where they were handed a prop and asked to create a full fledged story using elements learnt from the session Sowing the Seed.
The Fantasy Story Board
Conjuring a fantastical tale
Writing in progress
All in all the best session was Let’s talk Dialogue where students were paired into groups, asked to write a conversation using a story prompt and then enact out their written materiel. The entire performance was received with chuckles and laughter. Lastly, the Fantasy story board brought out the ‘Imagineers’ in the children and they came up with fantastical tales of wonder and amazement.
The workshop was conducted by Deepali Junjappa and Dalanglin Bryson Dkhar
Creative Writing Workshop for children at India Habitat Centre
If you enjoy crazy adventures with your favorite hero, love writing stories, marvel at magical characters, come join us at The Imagination Lab.
The workshop shall focus on enhancing basic story writing skills and will be primarily for children who are not just interested in books but love to extend themselves into writing. It will include popular children’s literature as well as classics and will be packed with a lot of fun activities.
Outline: Our various interactive sessions The Photo Lab, Bring out the Boxing Gloves, The Imagination Factory and Sowing the seed are designed to encourage kids to think out of the box. Workshop size is limited to ensure that each individual receives plenty of guidance and feedback because everyone’s voice is unique and our workshops are not competitive.
Objective: Students will be given fun writing exercises which they have to narrate, describe and perform in class. Participants who successfully complete this workshop will gain valuable insight into developing their imagination and writing short stories at a more advanced level.
